How to create an inviting dining space in a condo?

The condo is characterized by its open-plan space, which translates into a sense ofunity and interconnectedness. Since there are not really any separate rooms, it must be designed in such a way that the different spaces of the dwelling are clearly defined. On the other hand, you also have to think about keeping some fluidity between the spaces.
Does this sound complicated? At first glance it may be, but there are a few guidelines to follow to get it right. The dining room is perhaps the most complicated to design in a condo: that's why we're going to focus on it in this article!

Clearly define your condo's dining room

To create an inviting dining room space in your condo, the first step is to delineate it from the other areas of your open space. Of course, the center of your space will be the dining table, but it won't be enough to create an inviting dining area on its own.
Try adding something to reinforce the impression that the table is the center of its own space. For example, you can place a hanging light above the table, or incorporate an eye-catching centerpiece.
This way, it won't feel like you have a dining table in your living room, but rather a dining space in your open-concept condo.

Opt for a light dining room when designing your condo

Since the space available for a dining room is rather limited in a condo, try to opt for furniture that inspires lightness. Optimize the available space by choosing a round table, which will avoid cluttering the room. If possible, choose light colors: a table with clear glass gives the impression that it takes up less space than a dark table with lacquered wood.
Also choose minimalist chairs, with little or no decorative elements. Since you don't have a lot of space to spare and chairs aren't the main feature of your dining space, you should go for understated. In the same vein, avoid arm chairs, which take up more space in width.

Design your dining room to respect the unity of your condo

This last point may seem contradictory, but keep the sense of unity of your condo in mind when delineating your dining space. Choose a color palette for the entire condo, and use it for each space, whether it's the kitchen, living room or dining room. Changing colors too abruptly from one area to another can overpower the overall aesthetics of your condo, causing it to lose its charm.
